About Michael Collins GAA

Michael Collins Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) is an amateur Irish sports club based out of Alexandria, Virginia. The club is classified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by the standards of the Internal Revenue Service. Michael Collins GAA currently consists of a men’s Gaelic football team. As such, males aged 18 and older are welcome to register and participate in formal matches. However, practice and scrimmages are open to everyone! No experience is necessary! Participation can be as social or as competitive as you like. Our ultimate goal is to create an inclusive environment in which all members have a sense of community and belonging.

Under the U.S. Gaelic Athletic Association (USGAA), Michael Collins competes regionally in the Mid-Atlantic division, which includes Alexandria, D.C., Baltimore, Richmond, and Coastal Virginia. The club also competes in non-divisional matches and tournaments along the east coast and participates annually in the USGAA national championship. The season typically begins in May and goes through August but practices and scrimmages are held year round, weather permitting. Apart from football, the club often gets together for social events, such as happy hours and to watch the All-Ireland Senior Championship, and also participates in holiday parades and other community events in Alexandria. Feel free to drop us a message to find out more about football and social events!
